Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey announces £2M for Emergency Fuel Payments

Additional emergency payments will be made available to those severely impacted by the fuel price crisis, Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey has announced.

The Department for Communities, in collaboration with Bryson Charitable Group, the Consumer Council, and a range of local energy companies, will contribute £2 million to an Emergency Fuel Payment Scheme.

This scheme, which aims to benefit 20,000 families, will open on 6 January 2022 and will run until 31 March 2022.

Full eligibility criteria, along with the application process, will be published on the Bryson Charitable Group website at scheme launch on 6 January 2022.

The link to the website and application will also be made known to Energy Suppliers, local government, and community organisations at this time to enable sign-posting for support.
